You create, generate, and edit these records explicitly. Supported workflows can then use the relevant records as project context.
The OCEAN Personality Model
Psychology doesn't guess—it measures. The Story Bible uses the OCEAN model (Big Five personality traits), a framework validated across decades of psychological research.
What Is OCEAN?
- Openness: Curiosity, creativity, openness to new experiences
- Conscientiousness: Organization, discipline, reliability
- Extraversion: Sociability, assertiveness, energy in social settings
- Agreeableness: Empathy, cooperation, compassion
- Neuroticism: Emotional stability, anxiety, sensitivity to stress
Each character gets a personality profile across these five dimensions. Your protagonist might score high on Openness and Extraversion but low on Conscientiousness—impulsive, curious, social but scattered. Your antagonist might be high in Conscientiousness but low in Agreeableness—strategic and disciplined but ruthless.
Supported tools can receive these profiles as context. For example, the Dialogue Doctor can consider a character's recorded voice and personality, while the Character Psychologist can analyze the profile when you invoke it.
The profiles give you a consistent framework for reviewing character choices; you remain responsible for deciding whether each choice fits the story.
Generated and Manual Entry
You can generate selected Story Bible material from the ideas you provide, then review and edit it. The Story Bible does not silently extract and synchronize every fact from your manuscript in real time.
But you're in control. You can also manually add or edit entries at any time. Notice an inconsistency? Fix it. Want to explicitly set a character's OCEAN scores? Type them in. Have a world rule you need to lock down? Add it directly.
When you invoke a supported continuity or character-analysis workflow, it can use Story Bible context to flag potential issues for your review.
How It Integrates with the 12 Agents
