The AI Watches and Learns
As you write, Discovery Mode quietly builds context. It recognizes characters, settings, relationships, conflicts, and themes that emerge from your prose. It's not imposing structure—it's observing structure forming.
Your Story Bible Populates Itself
Your Story Bible—the centralized record of your story's world, characters, and lore—populates itself from your writing. Characters get personality profiles based on how you've written them. Settings gain details from your descriptions. Plot threads are tracked as they emerge. No manual data entry required.
The Neural Link Graph
When you refresh the Neural Link Graph, it combines your Story Bible with a full-manuscript scan. The graph shows supported relationships among characters, locations, factions, items, and planned plot beats, plus available chapter events and timeline markers.
The "What If" Engine
Mid-draft, you'll have questions. What if this character betrays the protagonist? What if the magic system has this limitation? What if this subplot becomes central?
Discovery Mode's "What If" engine lets you explore implications without committing. Ask any question about how your established world would respond to a change. The AI analyzes everything you've written so far and shows you the ripple effects—without forcing you to rewrite.
Example: "What if Elena knew about the portal all along?" Discovery Mode examines every scene with Elena, suggests reinterpretations, flags plot moments that would land differently, and reveals new story possibilities.
Optional Checks Without a Rigid Outline
Discovery Mode relaxes outline-dependent gates. You can still invoke focused checks as the manuscript develops:
- Character Consistency: Review behavior against the character information you have recorded.
- Continuity: Run Continuity Keeper on selected chapters to flag possible timeline or fact conflicts.
- Structure: Add emerging threads and chapter goals when they become clear.
- Theme: Invoke focused analysis when you want to inspect motifs or thematic echoes.
The key difference: These tools run when you choose them. Their output is a suggestion for review, and you remain in control of intentional inconsistencies or unresolved threads.
Focused Tools Remain Available
Discovery Mode is a less outline-dependent workflow. You can still choose focused assistants such as:
